Free Kindle Download of The Pilgrim Adventure

This is just a reminder about the free Kindle download of The Pilgrim Adventure on July 25 & 26 (this Wednesday and Thursday). The Pilgrim Adventure is the first book in the Our America series of chapter books designed to teach American History while reading a fun story. The free book download is to celebrate the publication of the second book in the series, The King Philip’s War Adventure. A review of the new book will follow soon.
For folks who don’t own a Kindle, Amazon has free apps so that you can read Kindle books on your computer or other readers. You can find the link to the free Kindle version of The Pilgrim Adventure, the free Amazon apps, and the free activities to go with both of the above books on this page of Susan’s website:
Below is the trailer for The Pilgrim Adventure:

Finn & Ginny’s parents are lost back in time, and the two young twins have decided to go back to early America to find them. Their search takes the twins to the Mayflower where they discover that the Pilgrims had far more adventures than they had ever realized.

This first book in the Our America series is designed to teach the real story of the Pilgrims in such a fun way that the reader won’t even realize that it’s educational. The Pilgrim Adventure is based on actual accounts written by the Pilgrims themselves, and kids who read this book will find that by the end of the story they may know more about the Pilgrim’s adventures than their parents do. Ages 10 and up.

Christmas Creative Writing/History Unit

Ouch! We haven’t even had Halloween yet, though it is Monday, and I am actually going to post something for Christmas. I hate it when stores put out the Christmas stuff in October. I am posting this because it is only free until November 3, 2011. So grab it quickly!

Here is what the site says about this 48 page unit:

In this course, the student first learns the history of Christmas. Then as with all our History/Creative Writing elective courses, the student is led through the steps to write two original holiday short stories. The student learns about some of the most important elements of writing, including plotting, characterization, and conflict, as he develops his own short stories step by step. 18 complete lesson plans!

Also included is a recommended list of Christmas books and movies…and an original short story by the author of the course, an Emmy-award winning writer.  For students ages 8-adult.
